After completing the Legal Practice course at the College of Law, Kate began working on the Defendant side of costs in 2011 moving over to work on Claimant’s costs in 2012 and is now a Senior Costs Draftsman and team leader for R. Costings. Kate has an extensive knowledge of costs matters and is highly skilled and experienced with phased Bill drafting, personal injury and employment claims, Court of Protection work, group litigation, budget preparation, negotiations, Points of Dispute/Replies and probate issues in costs litigation and assists in providing ongoing training to other colleagues.
Kate has specific expertise in both clinical negligence and complex catastrophic personal injury claims having recently worked in conjunction with another colleague in preparing a Bill of Costs for an RTA claim resulting in severe long term brain trauma settling for £9.8M in damages and £1.8M in costs. At the time this was the largest settlement of such a claim by the instructing Solicitor. Kate has also been the lead draftsman dealing with multiple claims and generic costs resulting from defective hip replacement litigation claims and is an authority in this field.
Kate has an eye for detail and is thorough in her approach to Bill preparation and advice and will always strive to ensure the best possible recovery and outcome for the client utilising knowledge of up to date case law at the CPR
