Joe Bardoe

Senior Costs Draftsman

After starting as a Trainee Legal Costs Draftsman in 2003, Joe moved to London where he began to own and expand his skills set in the areas of legal costs, dealing with a wide range of cases from high value catastrophic injury and clinical negligence cases to high value commercial litigation.

Joe has extensive experience in dealing with both costs on both sides of the fence, acting for both paying and receiving parties. Dealing with cases from “cradle to grave” Joe often deals with the preparation of Precedent H cost budgets, Bills of Costs, Points of Dispute and Replies. Joe also represents clients at Detailed Assessments in the County Court, and the Senior Court Costs Office as well as dealing with costs management issues at CMC’s, in both County and High Court level. In addition, Joe also has experience with dealing with Court of Protection matters, legally aided cases and assessments brought under the Solicitors Act 1974.

Since joining R. Costings as an integral and valued member of the team, Joe has applied his knowledge in obtaining excellent results for both new clients and existing clients both in an advisory and practical capacity. In addition, since introduction of the electronic Bill of Costs in April 2018, Joe has developed a working understanding of the relevant software and guidance to ensure that clients costs remain in safe hands.

Over the past 3 years, Joe has presented training talks on various issues including proportionality, costs management and costs recovery in general.
