Before training as a Costs Lawyer Peter read law at Nottingham Trent University. He has dealt with the preparation of Bills of Costs in practically every area and is a skilled advocate having attended many detailed assessments throughout the country, both justifying and opposing bills. Peter has an all-round knowledge of civil procedure and costs, specialising in the preparation and justification of high value claims on behalf of Trade Union members and retaining a particular interest in Collective Conditional Fee Agreements.
In the past few years Peter has been involved in all aspects of large clinical negligence and multi-million pound personal injury cases involving complex costs issues. Peter was involved in the case of Woods v MOD (2010) EWHC 90179 (Costs) whereby he acted for the successful Claimant, recovering a success fee in a claim brought under the Ministry of Defence (Civilian Employees) Deafness Compensation Scheme 1978. Peter regularly attends client's offices to undertake in-house work. Peter has also presented talks on maximising costs recovery, and has written articles on costs published in various journals.
In 2007, Senior Costs Judge Hurst awarded Peter the 'ALCD' Cup for obtaining a higher mark than any other candidate sitting the Associate examination. Peter is a Costs Lawyer and therefore has rights of audience at Court and has the right to conduct costs litigation pursuant to Sections 27 & 28 of the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990.
Peter is married with two young sons and in his spare time enjoys both playing and watching football and golf.
