Court of Protection

R Costings have many highly skilled Court of Protection draftsmen and Costs Lawyers whose services include the preparation of Bills of Costs for Detailed Assessment, Short Form Bills of Costs, advice on fixed costs limitations, Deputyship Applications and advising on Appeals and relevant updates from the OPG and case law.

At R Costings, we adopt a personalised service for the needs our Clients, starting with a short discussion to identify your requirements. We will be happy to offer a face to face meeting to consider your specific requirements and expectations. You will be kept appraised at each stage of Bill preparation, and we endeavour to turn work around within 10-15 working days, save for exceptional circumstances which will be discussed with you on a case by case basis. You will be given a specific contact point, a person for you to get in touch with, who will be on hand to answer any questions whether it is related specifically to work we are instructed on, or whether you are just seeking some general advice.

Our Costs Lawyers/Draftsmen are highly experienced in the preparation of Bills for case management periods, and advising on recovery of costs following appeal or where the lines may be blurred between litigation and Deputyship costs, as a result of having worked on catastrophic injury cases involving both Deputyship and Litigation Costs.
It may be that you would also like us to provide in-house training/on-going advice to Deputies and your Court of Protection team, especially in light of the OPG update; ‘Professional Deputy Costs’ just recently published. It is important that the guidance regarding the recovery and delegation of work, and more importantly the preparation of estimates, is considered during the case management period. We are also able to advise on hourly rates, time recording, classification of overheads and general effective case management to enhance your costs recovery. We have found this to be of benefit to some of our other Clients, as the issue of Proportionality is an ever present factor to consider in the Court of Protection.

We act for solicitor clients throughout England & Wales and are able to do so because we have our own in-house fleet of couriers will who collect your files from your offices and return them to you, at no cost to you.
We would welcome hearing from you with any queries you may have, or to discuss further how we can assist your Court of Protection Team. If you have any queries, or would like to arrange a meeting please contact us on 01480 463499.
