Pursuant to Part 6 of the Cost Practice Direction, costs estimates are a significant factor in the costs that Solicitors recover. A cost estimate has to be filed with an Allocation Questionnaire and Listing Questionnaire, although an updated estimate can be served upon all relevant parties at any stage during proceedings.

Part 6 of the Cost Practice Direction provides that a Court can reduce costs if the Solicitor's overall costs differ from the estimate by no more than 20%.

It is therefore vital that these estimates for legal expend are accurate and precise, and reflect the true value of the overall claim. An hourly rate commensurate to Grade C/D fee earner is applied accordingly to complexity, generally between £118.00 and £150.00 per hour.
